About

The Grievance Redressal & Sexual Harassment Committee is established to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive campus environment. The committee is committed to listening to student concerns, resolving complaints fairly, and preventing any form of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct within the institution. This committee strictly follows the guidelines of the UGC, NCTE, and Government of India to safeguard the dignity and rights of every student and staff member. The Grievance and Redressal Cell desires to promote and maintain a conducive and unprejudiced environment for its stakeholders. It attends to the grievances and complaints registered by anyone with regard to the activities of the Institution, and in particular, those made by students. The Cell ensures effective solutions to the grievances, using a fair approach. The Grievance and Redressal Cell enables the students to express their grievances by initiating and following the grievance procedure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. The cell meets periodically, examines the nature and pattern of the grievances and redresses it accordingly.

Activities

• Policy Development & Awareness: Creating clear anti-sexual harassment/grievance policies and conducting sensitization programs (workshops, seminars) for students and staff. • Complaint Handling: Receiving complaints (written, email, suggestion box) about academic issues (teaching, syllabus, results), non-academic matters (amenities, scholarships), discrimination (SC/ST/OBC/Women), and sexual harassment. • Investigation & Redressal: Appointing investigation committees, conducting inquiries, ensuring confidentiality, mediating disputes, and resolving issues within a set timeframe. • Support & Counseling: Providing psychological support, guidance, and counseling to victims. • Reporting & Monitoring: Maintaining records of complaints and actions, reporting to higher authorities, and ensuring timely resolution. Types of Grievances Handled • Academic: Inadequate teaching, syllabus completion, unfair evaluation, exam delays. • Administrative: Scholarship delays, non-provision of promised amenities, unfair admissions. • Behavioral/Harassment: Sexual harassment, discrimination (caste, gender, disability), victimization, mental/physical harassment, workplace bullying. Structure & Composition (Typical) • Chairperson: Senior female faculty. • Members: Male/female faculty, student representatives, administrative staff. • External Member: Legal expert or NGO representative (for SH Committee). • Counselor: Professional for psychological support.
