About

An Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) in a Teacher Education Institute (TEI) organizes awareness workshops, conducts confidential investigations for sexual harassment/discrimination complaints, provides support to victims, ensures legal compliance (like India's POSH Act), promotes gender equality, and submits annual reports, aiming to create a safe, respectful, and gender-sensitized campus for students, faculty, and staff.

Activities

Awareness & Prevention: Conducting gender sensitization training, workshops, and seminars for all members (students, teachers, staff). Publicizing what constitutes sexual harassment and the institution's zero-tolerance policy. Promoting bystander intervention and creating a vigilant community. Complaint Handling & Redressal: Receiving and investigating complaints of sexual harassment and gender-based violence impartially and confidentially. Providing immediate support services and counseling to victims. Ensuring fair, timely resolution of cases according to legal guidelines (POSH Act 2013). Policy & Compliance: Ensuring a safe, dignified, and equal environment for all genders. Acting as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013. Submitting annual reports on activities to the administration. Support & Outreach: Providing assistance if a complainant decides to file a police complaint. Collaborating with NGOs or legal experts for specialized guidance. Addressing specific needs of vulnerable groups (based on caste, disability, etc.). Who Can Approach the ICC? Female employees (teaching & non-teaching). Female students. Visiting faculty, female users, or even visitors on campus during college-related activities.
